Leopard Snake
Symphysodon sp.
Description
The Leopard Snake combines the fine lines of the Snakeskin variety with Leopard spots, creating a dense and complex pattern.
🌍 Origin & History
The Leopard Snake Skin is the result of crossing Snakeskin with Leopard discus. It merges the fine lines of Snakeskin with Leopard spots. It became popular in the 2000s through extensive backcrossing.
Appearance
Brown-orange body with a pattern of fine, fragmented lines in spots (a snakeskin-leopard combination). Distinctive pattern on the gill plates. Red-brown spots on a brown-orange background. Red eyes.
🧬 Genetic background
Snakeskin × Leopard (Red Spotted Green). The fine lines of the snakeskin are 'broken' into spots by the leopard genes. The pattern on the gill plates is specific to snakeskin, preserved.
