Description
The Brown Discus Wild is the most subdued and resilient wild discus variety. It is an ideal introduction to the world of wilds.
🌍 Origin & History
Rio Urubu, Rio Uatumã, and the eastern Amazon tributaries (Brazil). This subspecies was described by Schultz in 1960.
Appearance
Uniform brown-caramel body without horizontal stripes on the flanks. Turquoise lines only on the forehead, operculum, dorsal and anal fins. Nine discrete vertical bars.
🧬 Genetic background
A subspecies of Symphysodon aequifasciatus. The most 'basic' among wilds — turquoise lines limited to the forehead, operculum, and fins, while the rest of the body remains uniformly brown.

Care
The most resilient wild. Accepts a wider range of parameters. A good choice for a first wild.
Breeding
Relatively easy compared to other wilds. Pairs are stable.
