Albino Turquoise
Symphysodon sp.
Description
Albino Turquoise have bright turquoise stripes on a light cream background with red eyes. This creates a spectacular visual contrast.
🌍 Origin & History
Albino Turquoise combines the albino gene with the turquoise striping pattern of the Turquoise variety. The turquoise stripes remain visible due to the pigmentation of the iridophores (non-melanistic cells).
Appearance
Cream or yellowish-white body with bright turquoise horizontal stripes (active iridophores). Albino red eyes. The lighter background compared to normal Turquoise enhances the contrast of the stripes.
🧬 Genetic background
Red/Blue Turquoise × Albino. The iridophores (reflective cells) are not affected by the albino gene, so the turquoise stripes remain visible even in the absence of melanin.

Breeding
Difficult. The turquoise stripes may not be as intense in all offspring.
