Description
The Alenquer Wild is distinguished by its bright red-caramel base, which has become legendary among collectors. It represents the wild form of what we now refer to as the domestic Alenquer Red.

The Alenquer region and Lago Grande (Pará, Brazil). One of the most renowned collection localities for red-tinged wild discus.
Appearance
Bright red-caramel body, almost devoid of horizontal lines. Subtle turquoise lines on the forehead, operculum, and fins. Very intense red eyes. Nine discreet vertical bars.

Local population of Symphysodon aequifasciatus with a genetic tendency towards a red-caramel base color. The genetic foundation for many domestic red lines (the domestic Alenquer Red is a direct descendant).
Recommended water parameters
Care
Particular about water quality. Soft, slightly acidic water. Diet rich in carotenoids to maintain natural red coloration.
Breeding
Possible in captivity. Pairs produce fry with natural red tinge.
