White Butterfly
Symphysodon sp.
Description
White Butterfly impresses with its immaculate white body or pearlescent hues. It is one of the most spectacular and rare varieties within the Pigeon Blood category.
🌍 Origin & History
White Butterfly is a Pigeon Blood with genes for partial depigmentation — the base becomes white or pearlescent rather than orange. It was created in Asian aquaculture through the crossing of Pigeon Blood with lines of White discus.
Appearance
Predominantly white body, ranging from pure white to white with pearlescent or slight yellowish hues. Black peppering on the snout and fins (characteristic of PB). Lacks vertical bars. Transparent fins with white edges. Intense red eyes dramatically contrast with the white body.
🧬 Genetic background
Pigeon Blood × White discus (Snow White / Albino). Inherits the dominant PB gene (no vertical bars, pepper) combined with the gene for partial depigmentation. Results in a white or yellowish-white body with all the PB features.
