🌍 Origin & History
The Leopard variety emerged in 1995 through selective breeding from Wild Red Spotted Green lines, according to the chronology of discus hobbyists. Its genetic base comprises Red Spotted Green discus from the Amazon crossbred with domestic strains.
Appearance
Red-brown spots are densely and uniformly distributed across the entire body, set against a background of orange-yellow or bluish hues. The pattern ranges from subtle to dramatic. It features red eyes and lightly visible vertical bars. The distinct pattern is also present on the gill covers.
🧬 Genetic background
Wild Red Spotted Green (Symphysodon aequifasciatus aequifasciatus with red spots) × domestic Turquoise. The red spots of the Wild Green are intensified and spread throughout the body through selective breeding.
